Dr. Javier Carretero González is the COORDINATOR of SMAS.
The ICTP team is dedicated exclusively to the creation of innovative monomers and polymers with a broad research approach (fundamental, applied and development). The team´s laboratory has fully equipped polymer electrochemistry facilities and also possesses synthesis facilities and lab-scale polymer material´s processing and characterization techniques.

The UCM activities in SMAS are led by Professor Elizabeth Castillo Martínez . She has >10 years experience in Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and beyond LIBs, mostly focused on developing and understanding electrode materials for Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs), Potassium-ion batteries (KIBs) and Lithium air.

The UCM team has also very strong capabilities in soft synthesis methods of advanced inorganic materials, their structural and basic characterization, having equipment and expertise in XRD, and state-of-the-art electron microscopy characterization techniques.

Dr. Rafael del Real is a tenure scientist in charge of the SMAS activities at the Nanomagnetism and Magnetization Processes group.

The group activities are related to the nanofabrication, research focused on magnetic domain observation, magnetization reversal process (i.e., controlled domain wall motion), and magnetotransport properties, with particular emphasis on the study of this phenomenon through magnetic imaging via Magnetic Force Microscopy and the development of novel measurement modes.

Arkema is a company dedicated to the production of coating polymer binders, known as the generic name of resins, and the manufactured resin range includes alkyds, acrylics and polyesters. Polyester activity has two qualities: liquid and solid. The solid polyester is the binder for powder coatings, which are paints non-requiring solvents. The absence of solvents benefits the environmental impact of the product value chain.

RIMSA is an SME specialized in the development and manufacture of additives for friction materials, including synthetic metal sulfides and titanates of various metals, including lithium, by solid-state synthesis (SHS and Combustion), which they already produce in kgs.
